About the Infrastructure Sustainability Council

The Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) is the peak industry body driving sustainable infrastructure across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. As a purpose-led, member-based organisation, ISC empowers the industry to deliver environmental, social, and economic outcomes across all phases of an asset’s lifecycle.

At the heart of ISC’s work is the Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating scheme—the region’s only comprehensive framework for assessing sustainability performance in planning, design, construction, and operations. Since its launch in 2012, the IS rating scheme has been applied to over $200 billion AUD in infrastructure projects, helping to drive improved sustainability outcomes and promote best practice across the sector.

ISC also builds industry capability through training, accreditation, and knowledge-sharing events. As a strong advocate for its membership community, ISC connects professionals and organisations to a collaborative network of sustainability leaders.

Through advocacy, education, and partnerships, ISC is shaping a future where infrastructure supports communities to thrive and a healthy planet.
